Leslie Herron, RPh
Leslie comes from a family full of generations of pharmacists, she was essentially born into the industry and has made it her life long career. She believes very passionately in the role of the community-based independent pharmacy and how it makes a significant difference in people's healthcare. Leslie purchased Sumpter Pharmacy from Toni Sumpter on July 1, 2018 when Toni decided to retire. Living in Adel, it was a natural fit and she loves being a part of the Adel community. Leslie and her husband Mike have acreage outside of town where they operate a training stables and horse tack business. They are blessed with parents, kids, and grandkids living within a 7 mile radius and are very fortunate to spend the majority of their time together.
Nan Cooley, RPh
Nan Cooley is a registered pharmacist who has been with Sumpter Pharmacy since 2012. Once a pharmacy owner herself, Nan is a master at providing unbeatable customer service. Her experience in long-term care also benefits our customers residing at the local care center. Nan and her family live on an acreage near Adel. Nan's husband is a pharmacist, and they have a son in the National Guard,a daughter out of college and a daughter in high school. When asked what she likes about working at Sumpter Pharmacy, Nan answers "the incredible staff, our AMAZING customers and the variety of work".
Samantha Dao, PharmD
Samantha is a Drake School of Pharmacy graduate with a concentration in diabetes. After years of big chain pharmacy experience Sam joined the Sumpter team. She finds working for a smaller independent locally owned pharmacy much more gratifying, as she can really put her skills to use serving the people of our community. Her kind and caring way is very endearing. Outside of work Samantha most enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Sarah Gustofson, CPhT
Sarah has been a Certified Pharmacy Technician since 2014. Her experience has been in the chain pharmacy setting prior to Sumpter Pharmacy. She loves her job because even though the daily tasks are the same, every day is different and she is never bored. Sarah is driven by a sense of accomplishment and continually strives to be the best and most efficient at her job. She is working towards becoming a Dental Assistant as well. Outside of work her favorite pastimes are scary movies and spending time with her family and friends.
Laurel Weighner, CPhT
Laurel, is a certified pharmacy technician who’s been with Sumpter Pharmacy since 2014. Laurel chose to fill her prescriptions at our store and that’s how we snagged her just after she arrived in the area. As a Sumpter Pharmacy customer, you’ll love Laurel’s years of knowledge in the pharmacy industry and her sense of humor and quick wit. Born and raised in Waukon, Iowa. Laurel and her family returned to Iowa from Colorado. Laurel and her husband Mark live on an acreage between Adel and Winterset. Working part time allows her to enjoy time with her dogs, chickens and grandchildren (not necessarily in that order)!
Tim Zuo, Intern
Tim was raised in Johnston, IA. He will graduate from Drake University College of Pharmacy in Spring 2021 as a PharmD and with a Masters in Business Administration. Tim has a minor in music, which is one of his passions. Tim plays the piano, saxophone, oboe and bass guitar, Jazz is his favorite genre. If you ask Tim what he values about his job at Sumpter he will tell you it's the opportunity to learn and to provide excellent customer service well beyond other chain stores he has worked.
Michelle Sturtz
Michelle is a jack of all trades around the pharmacy but we only get to have her part-time. Being born and raised in Adel, she takes pride in helping serve the needs of her fellow community and that is what she enjoys most about her job. Aside from working at Sumpter, she is also a top-notch professional horse trainer, wife, and mother of two.
Jessica Guyer
Jesse started with Sumpter Pharmacy in August 2018 with a background in child care and customer service. She's a local, having grown up in the Van Meter and Adel area, and is now raising her three kids here too. Jesse will usually be the cheery smiling face greeting you at the register or drive-through and delivering to your home. She loves interacting with the customers and community involvement. Outside of work, Jesse also serves as a volunteer fire fighter, enjoys fitness and outdoor activities with her kids.
Jean Feller
Jean has been WOW-ing customers with her friendly smile and can-do attitude since 2002 at Sumpter Pharmacy. Can’t find what you need in our self-treatment selections? No problem! If it’s not available, Jean will order it for you and have it the next day in most cases! Jean and her husband Laree live in Redfield and have three grandchildren who either graduated from or currently attend ADM schools.
